Rapport is a necessary foundation for treatment and often requires a bit of therapist shopping. As such, I am happy to offer a free 30-minute phone consultation so that we may get to know one another and determine if we are a good fit. During this time, we can discuss your current issues, my approach to therapy, fees and scheduling.
Individuals beginning therapy initially meet for a 2 to 3-hour appointment where I obtain details about symptoms, psychiatric history, medical, family, and other relevant background information to help me understand how these factors have affected you. Thereafter, we discuss your diagnosis and I develop a treatment plan unique to you. This is an important initial step as it sets the foundation and lays the groundwork for therapy.
Following an initial intake or diagnostic evaluation, you and I will commence therapy in a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental relationship. You will learn about your thinking patterns and perceptions, as well as the ways they negatively influence your feelings and behaviors. Therapy is rarely only about gaining insight. I work closely with you to help you gain skills and tools to effectively cope with distress.
Couples and families often find themselves stuck in a behavioral system that is no longer functioning harmoniously. In therapy, you can expect to learn about differences in expectations and expressions of thoughts and feelings that have negatively impacted communication. It is also a helpful place to work through common relationship obstacles, including major life decisions, overcoming betrayals, building trust, and reconnection. The goal of family and couple therapy is both behavioral change, as well as tolerance and acceptance of differences between individuals in order to restore harmony and satisfaction in the relationship.
I hold sessions on a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, for individuals seeking therapy from other locations in the state of California. I understand that work, family, travel and other life circumstances can limit accessibility to therapy. Telehealth is a convenient way to obtain the care you need, where and when you need it.
I am available for speaking engagements, workshops, and presentations to schools, organizations, medical offices, hospitals, start-up companies and firms. Topics can range from basic psychoeducation about psychological disorders, work-life balance, stress, productivity, motivation, and the impact of depression and anxiety in work and home.
I also provide clinical consultation to other health professionals and organizations who are interested in learning about cognitive behavioral therapy approaches to treatment. I am also available for collaboration with start-up and entertainment corporations for employee mental health services, feedback on organizational/management approaches, as well as commentary on creative platforms (i.e., media, publications).
My fees are flexible and designed to match the type and manner of treatment necessary to properly treat each patient. I offer a 30-minute telephone consultation at no charge for all new patients during which fees are discussed. I do not accept insurance, but I can issue "superbills" which can be submitted to an insurer for reimbursement of all or a portion of my fees (please see below).
In order to provide the highest quality service without limitations in time, overall length of treatment, or conditions acceptable for coverage, I am not affiliated with insurance panels. This means that I am an Out-of-Network provider for all insurance plans.
If you are interested in seeking reimbursement for services, however, then I will provide you a superbill (i.e., an invoice) at the end of each month, which you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Insurance companies offer different reimbursement amounts for out-of-network mental health providers, so consider these questions/facts when calling your insurance:

I also provide child and adolescent psychotherapy for anxiety and interpersonal issues. In my work with kids and teens, parents can anticipate weekly involvement in treatment, whether it be attendance during sessions or involvement in assigned therapy homework. Collaboration, engagement, and commitment to making changes by family members can significantly affect a child's progression in therapy.
